Summer Time Swimming

Summertime for Roxy means one big thing time to swim. We here in northern Maine don’t have open water year-round. In fact, most of the time we don’t have open water from November to March maybe April depending on what kind of winter we have. When we finally do you can bet, she’s in the water. I make it my mission that she swims at least once a week though I prefer at least two to three times a week. Its good for her muscles as well as good for her joints, and makes for a great workout for her, especially getting her ready for fall, when she is going to be retrieving ducks for us. With Roxy I do have to be careful that I look for when she’s had enough, her retrieve drive is so strong that I have to make sure she doesn’t exhaust herself. For me I notice this starts to happen when she isn’t directly bringing back the bumper, she almost takes the long way around, which tells me give her a couple of short, and if it’s a good solid retrieve to end the session, and end it on a good note, for both of us. I also post a lot of things on TickTok of what Roxy does, and the video is one of her TickToks.
