First Hunt 2022
First fall hunt of the 2022 season. I swear every year with
out a doubt there are two things that have to happen when we first start our
season. The first is my husband who always says were not really going to hunt very
much during the early season, which he is always wrong about as we end up
hunting one or two days of every week of early season because me and my friend
another female hunter complain about it enough that the guys finally take us
and end up having a good time. As for the number two, it’s that I always buy
three federal stamps year and whys that because whenever our group decides is
our first day of the seas one of our best friends never buys his stamp without
fail and needs an extra.
The hunt started with a beautiful morning, and warm for September.
We had some new hunters to our group that day who hadn’t field hunted geese
like we typically do. We quite a few flocks work/look at us and unfortunately
for us one of them landed in the field just a good 150 yards away, just a bit
to far for us to shoot, even though we stalked them they still got up and flew
away from us. Though we were still able to get some of the flocks to come in and
get a few. Roxy made sure they didn’t get away, as picking up geese in the
field is a bit difficult for her with not having a back leg. She did a good job
and made sure we found all of the ones we shot though, good memories and a fun
time to get the season started off.
