Now that our family was on this adventure of changing our lives, we started reading about three legged dogs, and their needs. One thing we learned very quickly was the amount of rugs we would need. We didn't have any in our house hardly at all and now we had one for all of our rooms on our first floor of our home. We also looked into a supplement to put Roxy on as a preventative measure as Roxy was not even a year old yet, and we were still planing on her having a long life. I also found a group on Facebook that really helped with understanding what to expect, and how others had come up with things to help get through this transition. We got Roxy a harness that was made so that if we needed to lift her we could, so that she could get into a car, and if we needed to help her while we were out on a walk.
One of the biggest questions on our minds is could she hunt, and would she hunt, also what about swimming? In reading I did find that a few not many other three legged dogs did hunt, and had done well, though they did tend to get tired a easier then four legged dogs, which is something we would need to be aware of. Though there was hope for her still, and we would have to wait until hunting season 2020 to see what she would be capable of.
It will be awhile yet until she hunts, but sharpening her skills will come: Tripawmama
