Not Everything is Perfect

As Roxy continued to recover it wasn't all hearts and flowers. We were talking to her vet almost daily discussing her progress and how she was feeling. Then one night, about two to three days after her operation, we noticed some fluid coming out of her incision site. We held pressure to it to try and stop it, it seemed as if it was slowing down, but as soon as we had her quiet, and she started walking again she would start having the fluid come out. We called our vet and they said to apply pressure as well as an ice pack. My husband and I got her to lie down and applied the ice and kept her calm after about another half hour, we let her up. Roxy got up and within five minutes it started again, we called the vet once more and we were going to bring her in to stay the night. We wrapped up her incision with lots of paper towels and took her to the car. I sat in the back with her with more paper towels at this point we had all ready been through two rolls of them. Roxy was surprisingly happy to be back at the vets office. They got her comfortable for the night and she would be ready to go home the next day.

When we picked Roxy up she was doing better. They asked that we keep a bandage around her incision site, until her stitches came out. They also put a drain in after her stitches came out as the fluid had built back up. We were able to take the drain out on our own, and luckily we didn't need to have anymore emergency vet visits.
There are still many other stories about her journey to come: Tipawmama
