First Hunt

 

Her first hunt started in the early morning, we had all of our gear, decoys blinds, her kennel, everything ready to go. We did some research about a dogs first hunt, they say take them in a small group of hunters, which we did, it was my husband, myself, and my father. They also say not to have your dog hunt geese first, well that went out the window because all she pretty much did was hunt geese with us. I was going to be in charge of Roxy, my husband always thought he would be in charge of the dog, this and that, but I did most of the work, and she listened to me much better than him, so she was my dog. We kept her busy, running after her bumper, as she was just full of energy, and not gonna lie this day for us was not a good day. Our shooting was bad and my husband was the only one who shot the two geese we got that day. Roxy did excellent for a first hunt, we would send her out, we had to go with her, but she soon learned that this is what she was training for. She didn't want to stay quite in her kennel either, but luckily the geese actually didn't care. For us it wasn't a great hunt, but for Roxy she made out quite well, which was all we could ask of her.
